Sharpness
Sharpening is the last step in the fine tuning process. Sometimes auto focus may be in error, resulting in a blurred photo. You can fix this problem by redefining the edges in the photo through sharpening. Be careful, because too much sharpening can make a photo appear grainy.
Sharpening may also be required to get the best print results. Often, although a photo looks fine on your screen, it appears blurry or smudged when printed. This smudging may be the result of inks bleeding into each other during the printing process, or it may be the result of the paper absorbing too much ink. If you find this problem in your prints, you should also adjust sharpness. Remember that sharpening the photo for good prints may result in an imperfect on-screen image.
