System Requirements

This version of Noromis software is fully supported on Microsoft Windows XP and higher. Operation on older versions of Windows may have functional limitations and thus operation on these older versions of Windows is not supported. The Noromis software installation process is designed to block installation on any version of Windows prior to Windows XP.

Under Windows, installing any program, including Noromis software products, requires the installing user to have specific security rights or privileges. The "limited account" configured through Windows simplified Control Panel / User Accounts facility is not able to install software. By default, user accounts created at the conclusion of Windows XP's installation are configured as "computer administrator". The user account installing Noromis software does not require any specific rights for installation beyond those held by such a "standard" user.

While less than 45 MB of free disk space is required to install this version of Noromis software, additional disk space will be required as you use the program. After installation, several megabytes of additional space will be required for various internal operations such as caching thumbnail images.
Note that this requirement does not cover the disk space required for photos you save to your hard drive, additional email messages, or slide shows you may create with Noromis software.

Minimum system requirements for operation with Windows XP* include:

  • PC with 300 megahertz or higher processor clock speed
  • 256 MB RAM
  • CD-ROM drive or Internet connection for installation
  • USB port to support camera connection and / or removable media
  • Screen resolution of 1024 by 768 pixels & high color (16-bit) Color

Higher processor clock speed and additional RAM are recommended for improved performance, particularly when processing large, high resolution images.

Greater screen resolution and true color (32-bit) Color quality will improve usability for editing functions.

Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Reader (or later) is required for viewing slide shows created by Noromis software as well as various documents on the Noromis web site. See http://www.adobe.com

Noromis software products provide an Internet based "auto-update" mechanism. As improvements to the product become available, they will be made available to all registered users of the current version by the auto-update process. Auto-update behavior can be controlled via Edit / Preferences / Auto Update and Help / Check for Updates.

Firewalls can pose a problem for Auto-update. If you are using only the Windows XP firewall, then there should be no issues. However, if you have a third party firewall configured to block outbound requests to the Internet, you may need to adjust your firewall configuration for Auto-update to work.

If you are using a third party firewall that is configured to block outbound requests to the Internet, the simplest way to obtain the update is for you to configure your firewall to unblock (at least momentarily) Noromis software’s access to the Internet. You can then go to the Help / Check for Updates ... menu to trigger the update process.

If you are unwilling or unable to unblock outbound access to the Internet, or if you are using a system without access to the Internet, please contact Noromis Technical Support.
